The Zeon duty army entrusted the development of man-made mobile weapons = mobile suits to three munitions enterprises, "Geonic", "Zimmat", "MIP", for the war of the Revolutionary War. In the early development competition, Geonic 'MS - 05 Zaku I' was adopted in formalism, and the remaining two companies will undertake license production to mass - produce the aircraft for the war. Zimmat and MIP continued to develop MSs with the aim of adopting the company's model as a next-generation main machine while producing license production.
The "MS-07C-5 GOUF TEST PROTOTYPE" was a data collection unit born under such circumstances. Following the "MS-06 Zaku II", Zimmatt was contracted to license production of the "MS-07 Gouf" at its California base in North America, and at the time was developing a unit that would enable high-speed movement to compensate for the weakness of MS, which was its slow movement speed under gravity. By equipping a backpack with reinforced verniers and auxiliary engines in the legs, they began research and development to realize a unit that would enable high-speed movement on land. Data was collected by attaching parts for high-speed movement that were under development to the "MS-07 Gouf" that they were contracted to license production. In addition, new parts such as a cross-shaped monoeye that expands the viewing range, joint armor that covers the abdominal power pipe, and a heat saber as a new weapon for close combat were also attached.
Because it is based on gouf, for this convenience the model number "MS - 07C - 5", only one aircraft was made for data collection. Based on the various actual data obtained in this experiment, Zimmat will complete "YMS - 09 Prototype Dom" and will later be adopted as "MS - 09 Dom".
