An OVA work produced to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Macross franchise.
A prequel to "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross," it depicts the U.N. Wars and the battle over the "Bird Human," an artifact from the super-ancient Protoculture civilization. This OVA also introduces the series' first full CG mecha. The 3D CG Valkyrie action scene was a pioneer in the field of anime production at a time when digital technology was still in its infancy.
Roy Focker, from "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross," also makes an appearance. Furthermore, Sheryl Nome from "Macross Frontier" is the granddaughter of a character from that same series, and the Vajra are said to be modeled after the Bird Human, making them an important part of the current Macross series narrative.
The VF-0 piloted by the young ROY FOCKER in "MACROSS Zero" has been newly designed and sculpted for HI-METAL R for the first time!
The VF-0 from the 2002 OVA "MACROSS Zero" has been recreated in three dimensions. It can transform into Battroid, Gerwalk, and Fighter modes, and its legs can be equipped with FAST packs and air-to-air missiles. It also comes standard with a special stand that bears the personal mark of ROY FOCKER.
Totally new! Three-stage transformation! The long-awaited machine finally in three dimensions!
Battroid mode. The main wings can be replaced with smaller ones.
Fighter mode. The pitot tube on the nose is replaceable.
Gerwalk mode. The FAST packs on the legs are detachable.
Comes with a special pedestal bearing the personal mark of its pilot, ROY FOCKER.
A variety of poses are possible.
Comes with a gunpod.
Also comes with suspension type main wings, which can be equipped with air-to-air missiles.
A design-oriented main wing is also included.
A pilot figure is included.
Two types of laser head cannons, a CG version and an illustrated version, are included and can be interchanged.
