安田:『リング・オブ・ガンダム』 ※noteAt that time, I vaguely envisioned a G-Self-like design with “reverse angles” and “large eyes”. In fact, Alexander from "Code Geass: Akito the Exiled" partially reflects the design at that time. After that, I was able to participate in "G-Reco", and in addition to the design image at the time, I thought that I had to make it "Hikari Gundam" after receiving the setting of "Photon Battery".

安田:これは昔のSF小説『宇宙のスカイラーク』（E.E.スミス著）に出てくる透明の金属のイメージもありました。永野護さんの透明装甲もあってかぶるなとは思ったんですが、やりたかったんです。

安田:全然なかったです。ただ、『OVERMAN キングゲイナー』の時、吉田健一さん（キャラクターデザイン・作画チーフ）は線を減らしたことをとても後悔していたらしいんです。お会いするたびに「線を減らしすぎて申し訳なかった」と言っていたので、おそらく今回は増やしてくれたんだと思います。

安田:色々……と言うか、怒られたことくらいで。富野監督がプロデューサーへ僕のことについてのメールを出していたんですよ。それは、僕を怒りすぎたことに関するメールだったんですけど。プロデューサーから「安田さん、それを読んでよく考えてください」と言われてしまいました。つまり、怒ったことを、ずいぶんと気にされていたみたいで、そのへんが人間っぽいですよね。

安田:あんまりハッピーな思い出はないんですけど（笑）、あるとしたら、パーフェクトパックが劇中に登場したことですね。「お前（のデザイン）が間に合えば出す」と富野監督がおっしゃって。パーフェクトパックは最終回では使わない可能性もあったようですが、結局、最後まで使ってもらえました。

安田:パーフェクトパックはあまりに強すぎるからと言うのが理由で、当初は大気圏パックを使うという話でした。その時、僕は「“ランドセル”はどうですか？」と提案しました。

安田:写真で見るよりもスタイリッシュで良いですね。角も尖っていますし。サイズこそ小さいですが、思った以上に情報量があってテンションが上がります。

- Do you have Yasuda's sights?

安田:胸のカバーがクリアパーツになっていて嬉しいです。設定上、黄色パーツの上にクリアのカバーがあるんですが、劇中でもわかりづらくて。

安田:それはありがとうございます。この箇所は「クリアなんだ！」と強く言いたかったので、本当に嬉しかったです。あ、この肩のパーティングラインも設定画に合わせてもらっているんですね。

安田:肩のデザインは“菱形”なんですが、形状的に対角線上がすでに斜め感があるんですよ。そのため、あまり角度を付けてしまうと斜めと斜めが重なってしまうので、なるべく肩（の天面）はフラットな感じになってほしかったんです。このあたりのバランスもよいですね。

安田:なるほど。まだそこまでポーズを取らせていなかったのですが、これはすごいですね。

安田:それほどポージングにこだわりはないですが、リラックス気味の立ちポーズが好きですね。あと、G-セルフはオープニングのポーズが良かったですよ。あれは「富野監督がまた発明した！」と思いました。ダイターン3のオープニングのガニ股ポーズとか、富野監督は“よく見るカッコいいポーズ”とは異なる印象的なポージングをよく生み出しますね。

--The "ROBOT SPIRITS < SIDE MS > G-Self (Reflector Pack)" is currently available for pre-order at Tamashii web shop. What do you think about this?

安田:これはもう、「出すんだ!?」と言う一言に尽きますよね、本当に。リフレクターパックは劇中でどう動くのか不安でしたが、実際にアニメを観たらカッコよかったです。アニメーターさんの力や富野監督の力に驚かされました。

安田:それは僕も思いました。ビーム・ライフルを撃つシーンの顔もカッコよくて、あれを観たときに（リフレクターパックは）いけるような気がしました。

安田:最初はもっと複雑な形状で、リフレクターがいろんな方を向いている予定でした。今は比較的シンプルなデザインですが、こちらのほうがわかりやすかったですね。デザインをまとめる段階で、折り畳み方などの構造に悩みましたが、富野監督に「そんなのどうでもいい！」と言われてしまいました（笑）。

安田:一応、こちらで大まかに考えていましたが、デザイン画としてしっかり描いてくれたのは吉田健一さんです。ROBOT魂でも実際に閉じるのはすごいですね。

安田:アニメではリフレクター同士の“繋ぎ”部分が少し細すぎる気がしたので、これくらいの太さがあると安心できますね。これからはコレが公式でいいんじゃないでしょうか。

安田:黄金聖闘士がすごかったですよね。『聖闘士星矢』は１年ぐらい前の劇場版（『聖闘士星矢 LEGEND of SANCTUARY』）がよかったので、昔の作品から見直していました。あと、気になったのはハルクバスターですね。

- So, back talk, in these packs, Do you have any favorites?

安田:トリッキーパックが想像していた以上にイイです。設定画と違って、けっこう両肩のバインダーを下げた状態での展示でしたよね？　絵的にもカッコいいなと思って、これからこの状態を標準にしようかと思ったくらいです。

――Are there any aircraft you would like to see in the ROBOT SPIRITS in the future?

安田:『Gのレコンギスタ』ならレクテンですね。それと個人的には、『コードギアス』からですが僕バージョンのサザーランド ※noteI want to release the.
