"ROBOT SPIRITS <SIDE GHOST> Tachikoma-Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045-" Art Director Teruhisa Tajima Special Interview
--First, please tell us about the logo design of “Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045”.
田島：『攻殻機動隊』は押井守監督の劇場版からポスターやパッケージなどのデザインに携わってきました。今回の『攻殻機動隊SAC_2045』では神山健治・荒牧伸志両監督の監修のもと、タイトルロゴをデザインしています。発案段階ではこれまでとは異なるイメージのロゴも多く提案していましたが、監督は「STAND ALONE COMPLEX」のロゴに連なるイメージを望まれているように感じたので、それが進化した感じのデザインにまとめています。広い意味ではアジア的で斬新なもの、古い時代の漢字のデザインが現代的に見えるようなロゴを目指したものです。
--In "Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045", the design of Tachikoma has been redesigned. What was your impression of the new Tachikoma, including how it was depicted in the play?
田島：タチコマは、クモなどの昆虫を彷彿とさせる生物的な形と動きが特徴だと思うのですが、今回はカブトムシやクワガタといった甲虫を思わせる印象を受けました。劇中の活躍ぶりを見ていると、より攻撃的になって動きの俊敏さも増している気がします。「“やられキャラ”的だった初代のタチコマに比べてずいぶん強靭になったな」という印象です。
――Please tell us the points about the image cut of the ROBOT SPIRITS that you worked on this time.
田島：『攻殻機動隊SAC_2045』のエピソードを参考に、「瓦礫が散在する戦闘下のロサンゼルス」の街をシチュエーションに選びました。“破壊された街”というグレーで無彩色なバックグラウンドを背景に、太陽光を浴びた未だ無傷状態のブルーのタチコマたちが何かを探しています。色として存在するものは、空とタチコマのブルーだけという世界ですから、よりブルーが際立っている絵作りになっていると思います。
――Please tell us about your impressions and impressions of Tachikoma in the ROBOT SPIRITS.
田島：まず各エッジの立ち具合などが細かくてシャープなことに驚きました。カラーリングも、深みのある難しいブルーを良く再現されていると思います。ポージングの際に、各パーツの可動域が大きく、様々な動きが追い込めて、しっかり止まるのもありがたいです。撮影時にはとても助かりました。このタチコマはソリッドでシャキッと閉まった感じがして、フィギュアとしても新しい魅力を感じました。

Teruhisa Tajima: Art Director, Graphic Designer, Photographer
Art director, graphic designer, photographer, presided over THE SEDAYS.
Born in Fukuoka in 1949, graduated from Tama Art University's Graphic Design Department.
After working at CBS Sony (now Sony Music Labels Inc.) design department, he moved to the US and became a freelancer in 1980. In 1992, he established the current design production "THE SEDAYS".
Served as an art director for shooting and package covers for many musicians such as Shogo Hamada and Yutaka Ozaki.
以降、仕事はエディトリアル、ポスター、広告、カレンダー、写真集、小説やコミックの装丁などグラフィック全般に及ぶ。
There are many animation-related designs, and I have been involved in projects such as "Ghost in the Shell" and "Mobile Police PATLABOR" since the start of the project.
