Supitoyo Sugiyama's Cinema Figure Theory vol.8 "S.H.Figuarts "FINAL BATTLE" EDITION SERIES"

Many people want to keep their favorite hero movie or monster movie character at hand. BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's item brand "TAMASHII NATIONS"'s Cinema figures will fulfill such a wish. I would like to talk about its charm from the perspective of a film writer.

I still can't forget the excitement when I saw the final battle scene of "Avengers: Endgame"! Everyone would have thought, "Yeah, I wanted to see this!" In your heart, you must have shouted, "I've been waiting for you!" This is the real thrill of crossovers.
Almost all the MCU heroes appeared in the previous work "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018), but if you look closely at that work, the group fighting Thanos in space (Titan) and the Thanos army on the earth (Wakanda) Group and climax are divided into two stages. Yes, many heroes appear, but there is no scene where all the heroes meet together. Iron Man and Captain America never met face-to-face.

But at the climax of "Avengers: Endgame", the heroes of the MCU come together, with the exception of two very important heroes.

And Captain America declares war. "the Avengers Assemble".
To use this line here! “the Avengers Assemble” is one of the most well-known lines of the Avengers in comics.
Mr. Koyo Ono, a leading researcher of American comics in Japan, translates this line in the translated version as "the Avengers gather!" A word used when all members of the Avengers gather. Speaking of Japanese heroes, it's something like "All five are Gorenger!"

When the 2012 "the Avengers" was released, I naturally thought that this line would appear. but was not used. In 2015's "the Avengers: Age of Ultron," Captain America is about to say that at the end, but that is not depicted.
When are you going to tell me? And it was fully used in "Avengers: Endgame".

I got goosebumps when I heard this line. What a compositional power if you decided to use it for this climactic scene seven years after the Avengers movie was made in 2012.
And what's important in this scene is when Captain America comes back to Mjolnir to say this line.
Mjolnir is a weapon of Thor. Is it rude to say a weapon? More than that, it's a companion. And you can only have a true hero recognized by Mjolnir. Captain America was qualified for that.
This foreshadowing appears in "the Avengers: Age of Ultron", but here it is! And feel comfortable again.

The "S.H.Figuarts Captain America -《FINAL BATTLE》Edition-（Avengers: Endgame）" comes with Mjolnir. In addition, the shield destroyed by Thanos is also included.

Put this broken shield in your left hand and hold Mjolnir in your right hand to recreate Captain America shouting "the Avengers Assemble".

By the way, this Mjolnir, the giant Thor, looks like a gavel, but the slim Captain America looks like a huge hammer.

This time, effect parts are attached to reproduce the scene using Mjolnir's DENGEKI. The hero named Captain America is a hero who fights with a strengthened body, so he does not emit light rays, so usually it is a figure that does not require effect parts. That's why figures that come with such accessories are rare. The effect parts are very beautiful, but the shield is dirty to give a sense of realism in the battle.

This final battle will bring Spider-Man back to life. He is wearing the Iron Spider suit at this time. The figure that reproduces it is "S.H.Figuarts Iron Spider -《FINAL BATTLE》Edition-（Avengers: Endgame）".

It is called the Iron Spider because it was designed by Iron Man. This first appeared in the comic version of Civil War. In the comic version, three artificial arms (spider legs) are attached to the back, and the coloring is gold (yellow) and red base based on Iron Man, but in the MCU version there are four spider legs. (The original spider has 8 legs, so Peter's limbs are exactly 8). In addition, the coloring is finished with metallic blue and red like Spider-Man.

The Iron Spider makes a brief appearance at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) when Tony tries to present it to Peter, but he declines.

The reason is that Iron Spider is a high-performance combat armor, and he chose the path of "your dear neighbor", in other words, he thought that he was not suitable for "the hero Spider-Man who protects the people of the city". .
On the other hand, "Avengers: Endgame" is a battle with a ferocious Alien army, so you can't fight without wearing the Iron Spider. As you can see from the figure, Iron Spider has an impression closer to Toei's space detective than the Toei TV series version of "Spider-Man" (laughs).

This figure also reproduces the facial expression of Iron Spider's "Instant Kill" mode when his combat power is increased = his eyes turn red. Spider-Man-Man wears a mask, so I don't know his expression, but his emotions are conveyed just by changing the color of his eyes.

In the play, there is a scene that runs through the battlefield with Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet. Thanos' enormity is well understood by the delicate Spider-Man-Man holding the Infinity Gauntlet. You can check it again with this figure.

And "S.H.Figuarts IRON MAN MK-85 -《FINAL BATTLE》 EDITION- (AVENGERS: ENDGAME)".
This is the last Iron Man suit worn by Tony in the MCU.

The perfection of the figure itself is wonderful, but after all, it is an armor that makes you feel special when you know the development after this in "Avengers: Endgame".

Since Iron Man 's armor uses nanotechnology, it is possible to create a blaster launcher on his back with a setting that allows him to freely transform the armor.

You can see that the Spider leg that extends from the back of Iron Spider also applied this technology.

There is a lot of variety, but I'm glad that each has parts of real face = Steve, Peter, Tony.

"What is important in the MCU is not only the costume, but also how much you can empathize with the raw human part of the main characters wearing the costume."

That's what Kevin Feige, MCU producer and president of MARVEL Studios, said when I interviewed him. Indeed, these figurines beautifully reproduce the raw human part carefully and thoughtfully.
