Sugiyama Supi Yutaka's "Cinema" Figure Theory, Vol. 3: "S.H.Figuarts Thanos -《FINAL BATTLE》 EDITION- (Avengers: Endgame)"
"American character writer" Supitoyo Sugiyama talks about Cinetoy (Cinema figure) from his own perspective.
The third issue will focus on the theme of S.H.Figuarts Thanos -《FINAL BATTLE》 EDITION- (Avengers: Endgame), which will be available for reservation on July 31 at Tamashii web shop, along with images taken for this column.
Many people want to keep their favorite hero movie or monster movie character at hand. BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's item brand "TAMASHII NATIONS"'s Cinema figures will fulfill such a wish. I would like to talk about its charm from the perspective of a film writer.
This time it's Thanos, the strongest character in MARVEL Cinematic Universe (MCU), who appears in Avengers: Endgame" (2019).

Thanos, who became an absolute presence in the Infinity saga, finally appeared in the S.H.Figuarts MARVEL series "FINAL BATTLE" EDITION
2012's the Avengers was a dream come true that fulfilled fans' wishes for the heroes to co-star on screen. Even though I was satisfied with that alone, there was an even nicer mechanism in this work. That is the so-called “bonus scene” inserted between the end credits that hinted at the existence of Thanos. Yes, the Avengers will eventually clash with Thanos! For fans, a new dream was shown here. But for fans, it's the beginning of a dream, but story-wise it's the beginning of a nightmare. Thanos made his debut in 1973 in The Invincible Iron Iron Man #55. That's why it appeared in Iron Man story, not the Avengers, in comic history. Thanos himself doesn't do much in this issue, though. The main part of this issue is Drags, and it was Thanos' double robot that appeared here. Also, Thanos is about the same height as Iron Man, not a giant. Therefore, it was not featured extensively.
After that, Thanos often appears in MARVEL comics, but he gained popularity most of all in 1991, when he co-starred with MARVEL heroes (crossover) "The Infinity Gauntlet." Gauntlet)”. He has become a much more intimidating character than when he debuted. Almost this story inspired Thanos in the MCU. In other words, Thanos gets six Infinity Gems (Infinity Stones in the MCU) and puts them in the Infinity Gauntlet, wiping out life in half the galaxy. Heroes fight to take back the world.
In Japan, a translated version was included in the magazine "Marvel X" (it was a wonderful magazine!) that introduced MARVEL comics in the mid-90s. When I read this story for the first time, I laughed a little at the idea of half the universe disappearing with a flick of a finger, but at the same time, I had the impression that it was very mythical. American comic heroes are human dramas borrowed from the format of superheroes, and at the same time modern myths.

In addition to the normal wrist, a nano gauntlet with damage coating (note the stone part!) Is included.
Starting with his appearance in "the Avengers", the existence of Thanos has been shown several times in MCU works, and it will appear in earnest from "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014). This is where Josh Brolin plays Thanos. A different actor was playing the cameo in the Avengers.
And it will be the main character in "Avengers: Infinity War". Yes, the main character. The title of this work is the Avengers, but you should think that the main character is Thanos. It is a work depicting Thanos until he realizes his terrible plan. So it's only natural that "Avengers: Infinity War" would end with the heroes' defeat, the first movie in the MCU where the side the heroes faced would win.
The production team also knew that, and at the end of this movie, I put a telop that was treated as a hero with THANOS WILL RETURN. In the first place, the official title of the comic is "THANOS: The Infinity Gauntlet", so Thanos is the main one.
What I want to pay attention to in this action figure is the facial parts. The angry Thanos, the face when he was indescribably melancholy, is reproduced. Thanos shows a lot of emotions even in the MCU, so you can enjoy a completely different Thanos depending on which face you choose.

You can combine it with other heroes to create a warrior Thanos, but I'm also happy to be able to recreate that scene where you're sitting alone before the decisive battle.
Thanos is a demon with terrifying power, but somehow human.
Isn't this the exact scene in Avengers: Endgame?

A large volume item that comes with diorama parts such as the Thanos body and weapons, the pipe that was sitting in the play, and the parts to reproduce the state where the sword is on the ground.
If you think about it, there is something missing about Thanos.
Even though it's supposed to be that strong, if Spider-Man has a spider thread on your face and you panic, or if you want to erase half of life just because the universe has become smaller with the Infinity Gauntlet, then cut everyone's size in half. Or there could have been a more peaceful way (by the way, in the original comic, Thanos' true motive for erasing half of all life is more personal and heartwarming. Read it if you get the chance).
Yes, even Thanos isn't perfect. This may be based on the stance that Stan Lee, who created the foundation of MARVEL Comics, said, ``There is no perfect human being in this world, so there is no perfect hero, and there is no perfect villain in the same way.'' I can't.
If you want to be encouraged when you decorate this figure in your room, wear a sword, wear a sword, and wear Thanos like a demon.
If you want to be healed a little, try Thanos, who sits on a clay pipe (?) And takes a breather.

Combine it with the "S.H.Figuarts Iron Man Mark 85 -《I AM IRON MAN》 EDITION- (Avengers: Endgame)" and other items currently on order, and you can create your own rendition of a famous scene that will make your heart pound with excitement!
Finally, a memory story. In 2012, I had the opportunity to interview Kevin Feige (the creator of the MCU and the current president of MARVEL Studios) when he visited Japan for the promotion of The the Avengers.
At that time, I showed him a comic version of an American Thanos figure and asked, "Will he appear in the movie in the future?" Kevin said, "Otherwise, I wouldn't have that cameo scene. He laughed and answered. At that time, few people knew or understood Thanos in Japan.
It's been eight years since then. At that time, I couldn't imagine that Thanos would become so popular that a movie version would be released from SHFiguarts (laughs).
