The game "Umamusume: Pretty Derby" celebrated its 2nd anniversary on February 24, 2023! To celebrate this memorable date, S.H.Figuarts Umamusume: Pretty Derby Oguri Cap and S.H.Figuarts Umamusume: Pretty Derby Tamamo Cross are now available for pre-order on the Tamashii Web Shop!

In this blog, we'll introduce the movable construction that has evolved from previous items in the series. In addition, we'll tell you a lot about the future development of the series and information on the figure event scheduled for March 25, 2023!

■ Advanced Movable Construction

The first item of the S.H.Figuarts "Umamusume: Pretty Derby" series was S.H.Figuarts Umamusume: Pretty Derby Tokai Teio, released in July 2022. Each figure since has evolved not only in terms of modeling but also in terms of movable structure. Keep reading to see which parts have evolved in the latest entries: Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross!

1. Stronger torso movement with POM material!

We've used polyoxymethylene (POM) material, which has excellent abrasion resistance and strength, for joints such as elbows and knees in previous figures, but we've increased POM usage in torso core for Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross. The green parts in the pictures below show POM usage, which grants the figures an even more movable structure.

While the Umamusume do put on gorgeous live performances after the races are over, it's the races themselves that get our blood pumping. By improving the torso, it is now possible for them to bend forward without difficulty as shown in the images below. This evolutions makes them easier to play with and pose for sprinting!

2. Additional movable points in the shoulder joints!

In addition to the torso, the positioning of the arms is also a vital point in order to create a pose with a sense of speed. We reviewed these parts in Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross, and added a joint at the base of the shoulder that allows for forward and backward swing as a new point of movement.

As a result, the range of arm expressions have been expanded, allowing for powerful sprinting poses with the shoulders leaning forward!

3. New drawer mechanism for Tamamo Cross's legs!

Tamamo Cross's outfit design makes any clearance (gap) for movement at the base of the thigh very noticable, so we've introduced a mechanism that allows the hip joint to be pulled downward.

This allows for both a natural standing silhouette and mid-race poses! The effects of this structure are particularly effective when recreating race scenes. Future entries to the series will adopt this structure by default.

On top of that, Oguri Cap also features improved hair movement, and by installing a joint at the base, it is possible to position her locks so they flutters back as she runs. Please check it out when you get your hands on it!

The pair can pose as a comedy (?) duo, zone out, or face off in a serious race. Get the two together and have fun creating any scene you like!

On March 25, 2023, the release date of S.H.Figuarts Umamusume: Pretty Derby Special Week, Akihabara Radio Kaikan's Umamusume: Pretty Derby Spring Figure Festival will open for visitors!

This will be the second event, following last July’s popular Umamusume: Pretty Derby Summer Figure Festival. In addition to samples of upcoming products, colored samples of both S.H.Figuarts Umamusume: Pretty Derby Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross will also be on display, so we hope you will come and check them out in person!
You can also look forward to the joint diorama exhibition with the GOOD SMILE COMPANY!
