This work led to the birth of CHOGOKIN, an epoch-making brand in the toy world. It's no exaggeration to say that Mazinger Z has become the icon for CHOGOKIN-related brands up until the present day.

And so, on December 29, the new SOUL OF CHOGOKIN GX-105 MAZINGER Z -KAKUMEI SHINKA- will be released! Today, we'll introduce the prototype figure, along with lots of photos and videos.

SOUL OF CHOGOKIN GX-105 MAZINGER Z -KAKUMEI SHINKA-

This is the packaging. The main body, attached parts, and Jet Scrander are all arranged in a blister pack.

"The Black Iron Castle" celebrates its 50th anniversary!

Under the thorough supervision of animator Kazuhiro Ochi, Mazinger Z has been sculpted with clearly defined colors. At the same time, the CHOGOKIN-era features that make it fun to touch and play with have been carefully crafted. While honoring the original design, all of the figure's elements have been updated to bring them in line with present day standards of quality.


Lined up below are the Mazinger Z models that became turning points in the history of the SOUL OF CHOGOKIN series: GX-01 (released in 1997), GX-45 (released in 2009; from the anime "Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact!"), GX-70 D.C. (released in 2017), and today's GX-105.
These figures have surpassed many challenges that were once considered impossible to achieve with the alloyed toys of each era, and they have contributed greatly to the evolution of the Tamashii brand as a whole.

The most significant difference between the more recent GX-70 and the GX-105 is that the GX-70 is based on the latter period of the show, while the GX-105 is based on the earlier period of the show. In contrast to the GX-70, which incorporates both graceful and soft lines, the GX-105 emphasizes power and strength. In addition, Koji Kabuto's cockpit is the successor model Jet Pilder in the GX-70, while the GX-105 cockpit is the Hover Pilder as it looked in its first appearance.

The main wings of the Hover Pilder are foldable and do not require interchangeable parts. A magnetic joint system has been employed, allowing the Mazinger Z's head and the bottom of the Hover Pilder to be sculpted without any irregularities. This aspect alone shows that the advances implemented in the GX-45 and GX-70 have been inherited and brought up to date with current development technologies.

The included Jet Scrander has also been sculpted as the "early model" that features a large tail wing. The main wings can be installed in different positions to recreate both their advancing and reversing configurations. The belt part that attaches to the abdomen can be swapped between a movable version and one that is more proportionate to the figure before they are combined.

■ Revolution x Evolution (1) Action

As the name -KAKUMEI SHINKA- suggests, there are three significant revolutions and evolutions in this figure. Let's start by introducing the action that serves as the basis for everything!

The shoulders, hips, and hip joints are equipped with pull-out mechanisms, allowing for a wide range of motion to achieve your desired poses. At the same time, take note of the detailed articulation of the wrists and ankles, which are play a pivotal role in the figure's ability to pose. The ankles can be pulled out, allowing the Mazinger Z to stand firmly on the ground, and the adjustable wrist axis allows the it to intuitively assume a stance where the palm of its hand is pointed toward the opponent.

The retractable mechanism on the torso enables the chest to be arched, and the waist to be twisted, freely. Also worth mentioning is the hip joint's pull-out and thigh rotation mechanism for both legs, which allows for the thighs to be elevated without affecting the waist. This allows the figure to stand on its knees without the need to switch out any parts.

■ Revolution x Evolution (2) Firing Gimmick

SOUL OF CHOGOKIN is a brand that is fun to touch and play with, and is is different from other so-called action figures. To better "experience" Mazinger Z, the GX-105 features Rocket Punch and Missile Punch firing gimmicks.

A considerably strong spring is used, and some may be concerned about losing the Missile Punch; a problem that CHOGOKIN has faced since the product was first announced. Our planning staff is also concerned about this.
We don't want anyone worrying about that anymore...
Because of this concern, we have decided to include a total of three Missile Punch parts.
(Even with this amount, please be careful not to lose then when playing!)

All of the firing switches have been discreetly positioned on the rear of the unit, maintaining the figure's beautiful aesthetics. Please watch the videos to see the excitement and fun of all the parts flying around (and to see the Missile Punch fly further than expected)!

■ Revolution/Evolution (3) XR (Cross Reality) Function

This item is compatible with XR TAMASHII GIMMICKS, an XR (cross reality) application developed by TAMASHII NATIONS.
When the app is installed on your smartphone using the barcode in the instruction manual, you can point the camera at the real GX-105 to activate the"Rust Hurricane," "Breast Fire," and "Koushiryoku Beam" special move effects on your smartphone's screen! You'll hear Koji Kabuto shouting out, too!

This app, which is currently under development, is a new way to further enjoy your figures and toys, and will be available for a limited time in certain areas as a free trial version. Enjoy this new and unique play experience!

Fifty years have passed since the birth of Mazinger Z. In the world of CHOGOKIN, the metal materials used for the figures give them a sense of massiveness. That, along with the wide range of movement, the molding, the specifications aimed at recreating scenes from the show, and even the futuristic XR functionality, are all a part of the process in making these figures a reality.
