Tamashii Blog [Ordering Deadline October 23] Product sample introduction to the GUNDAM NT-1 PROTO VER. A.N.I.M.E., plus special comments from Mika Akitaka!
2022-10-17 16:00 update
Shortly before the end of the war, another Gundam was developed at the North American Augusta Base...
The autumn colors deepen, and the holiday season draws near... When talking about the holiday season in Gundam, one's mind might be flooded with memories of "Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket," the coming-of-age drama featuring Al, Bernie, Chris and their friends.
At this time, we are pleased to present some sample images of THE ROBOT SPIRITS <SIDE MS> RX-78NT-1 GUNDAM NT-1 PROTOTYPE ver. A.N.I.M.E., currently taking orders at the Tamashii Web Shop. This mobile suit features the original coloring by Mika Akitaka, which was published in "Model Graphix" magazine during the OVA's development!
*The images in this article are of factory samples under development. The actual product may differ.
The first image is of the figure in its blister packaging. In this set, the damaged parts from THE ROBOT SPIRITS <SIDE MS> RX-78NT-1 GUNDAM NT-1 ver. A.N.I.M.E. (now available in stores), have been removed, and in their place the Chobam Armor parts from THE ROBOT SPIRITS <SIDE MS> RX-78NT-1FA GUNDAM NT-1 ver. A.N.I.M.E. -FULL ARMOR EQUIPMENT- (no longer available), sold at the Tamashii Web Shop, have been included.
Next, let's look at the coloring on the main body. The somewhat beige off-white and orange-red gives it a fresh look.
Now, let's equip it with the Chobam Armor.
It's easy to attach!
This is what the NT-1 PROTO looks like fully equipped. The slender mobile suit suddenly becomes massive!
The color in this edition is of a slightly darker gray, and owners of the previous Chobam Armor will be able to appreciate the difference.
The figure has been designed to maximize the action performance that is a hallmark of the ver. A.N.I.M.E. series, even when wearing the Chobam Armor. The dynamic pose here resembles the scene from episode 1 of "Mobile Suit Gundam," "Gundam Rising," where the RX-78-2 Gundam slices Gene's Zaku in half.
The included Chobam Armor can also be equipped on THE ROBOT SPIRITS <SIDE MS> RX-78NT-1 GUNDAM NT-1 ver. A.N.I.M.E. (now available in stores), and is recommended for those who missed out on the previous Tamashii Web Shop-exclusive release.
Here's how THE ROBOT SPIRITS <SIDE MS> RX-78NT-1 GUNDAM NT-1 ver. A.N.I.M.E. (sold separately) looks wearing the Chobam Armor!
THE ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E. MS Development DATA FILE on TAMASHII WEB now features a description of the Gundam written by Masahiro Oda from the legendary modeling group STREAM BASE.
Please take a look at the untold story behind the GUNDAM NT-1 PROTO.
Here's a surprise for everyone! What led to the creation of this mobile suit when the anime was first announced in 1989? We've received special messages from both Mika Akitaka, who illustrated the unit in "Model Graphix" magazine, and the editorial staff of that very same publication explaining just how it came to be!

A Special Message from Mika Akitaka

At that time, the NT-1 Prototype was a draft I made for an article in Model Graphix magazine about the 1/83 scale NT-1 full scratch build by Tomohiro Mori. I also remember how happy I was when the bazooka and other equipment that I had designed were later incorporated into plastic models and other products. I'm really surprised that this color scheme is being used for a consumer product in the present day. You can enjoy a different ambience from the original design, so I hope you'll take a look and get one of your own.

A Special message from the Model Graphix Magazine Editorial Staff

The NT-1 Prototype, a color scheme by Mika Akitaka that appeared in the November 1989 issue of Model Graphix, has been sculpted into a figure for the first time. As Akitaka-san said in her comments, she helped us a lot in the article 38 years ago by providing the color scheme for the NT-1 Prototype, as well as designing the exclusive bazooka for the model (thank you very much for that).
The colored sample (from THE ROBOT SPIRITS) has beautifully painted red edges and looks very stylish, just like the illustration. We love it! The NT-1 Prototype is full of surprises, and its various characteristics have been brought to light with this sculpted figure. We hope you check it out for yourself.
On a different note, we had a chance to play with the original ver. A.N.I.M.E. NT-1 when planning for this release, and we were impressed to see how far action figures have evolved. Parts that normally collide when posing the figure would retract, and then they would return to their original positions with the use of springs. We were very surprised by that. This figure is fun to handle and play with, so to all of you who missed out on the "Blue Alex" the first two times around: Please don't forget to order one of your own this time!
There's one more thing! The GUNDAM NT-1 PROTO (New Illustration) by Mika Akitaka is currently on display for a limited time at the TAMASHII NATIONS STORE TOKYO in Akihabara, so please stop by if you're in the area!
Thank you for your continued support of THE ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E. series. We hope that you'll check out the GUNDAM NT-1 PROTO this winter. The deadline for orders is 11 PM (JST) on October 23, 2022!
We're looking forward to your order!
