[1] Aiming to create a "Shigaraki Tomura" that exudes artistic beauty

The deadliest villain finally appears - 10/1 (Wed.) in-store reservations begin for "S.H.Figuarts Mourning for Dead Emblem", with a thorough explanation by prototype sculptor Hibiki Nagashio!

To create a three-dimensional representation of Shigaraki Tomura clad only in his cloak, Nagashio first created a non-movable clay model. By carefully adjusting and checking the muscle structure and balance at this stage,"Shigaraki Tomura's body shape x a form that doesn't collapse even when incorporating movable joints"This is what will be realized.

Nagashio: This is a technique used in SHINKOCCHOU SEIHOU is mainly used for live-action heroes. By following this method for anime characters as well,This strengthens the argument that "this sculpture is definitely Shigaraki Tomura."Of course, we pay attention to the final range of motion and structure, but first we want to firmly establish this stage, which is the foundation for everything.

The retail version comes with two types of hair parts, four types of interchangeable facial expressions, four types of interchangeable wrists (left and right), and an interchangeable waist part that can be used to recreate the second half THE FINAL DUEL. These parts, which add detail to the figure, are also sculpted to be full of sinister savagery.

Nagashio: The keyword that symbolizes Shigaraki Tomura is "collapse," which is also his "quirk." This image was especially incorporated into the design of the head, expressing the danger of the two extremes of justice and evil, strength and weakness, clashing against each other,A sense of being on the brink of collapseAs with the non-movable model, I created a prototype bust and worked on the details of the hair and facial expression.

▲The immobile clay model is used as a base for the 3D CAD design. The presence or absence of a cape and the balance when using the "spiky hair parts" are also checked.

2] S.H.Figuarts" MY HERO ACADEMIA" series adopts a cloth cloak for the first time.

S.H.Figuarts Cloth materials have appeared in the history of the "Shigaraki" in the quest for more realistic reproductions. The cloth cloak of "Mourning for Shigaraki" also incorporates ingenuity to produce "character".

Shigaraki Tomura's cloth cape has a built-in V-shaped wire at the bottom and in the center (see image above). This is a new attempt to express the essence of Shigaraki Tomura, allowing you to enjoy both the realism that only a figure can provide and the dynamic movements that are characteristic of the anime.

Nagashio:The key point is that the wire is shaped like a "V."Our goal was to make it easy to create complex cape shapes and cool, anime-style movements.

Nagashio: The cloak has two layers with the neck to represent the "cloak pool". In addition, there are wires there as well, which you can touch and see in the real thing. The ragged hem line has been reproduced finely and firmly according to S.H.Figuarts scale.

[3] Overwhelming range of motion

3D CAD design with movable joints from a non-movable model. After further adjustments and prototyping, the action figure = S.H.Figuarts is completed.

S.H.Figuarts Speaking of the "MY HERO ACADEMIA" series,An overwhelming range of motion that allows you to recreate the intense battles from the original seriesThis is one of the key points. Nagashio was in charge of the prototype for Shigaraki Tomura, following on from the first villain character in the series, Dabi.

Nagashio: In contrast to Dabi, who is designed with a coat on his body, Shigaraki Tomura is his bare body. He has no decorative parts. The most articulated in the seriesI always keep this in mind for all item, but there may be no character more suitable for me to take on as a sculptor than Tomura Shigaraki.

Nagashio: Of course, with the hair, facial expressions, shape of the wrists, angle of the fingers, and movement calculated backwards from scenes in the movie, you can enjoy poses that are synonymous with "Shigaraki Tomura!"
This kind of "fist-fighting type" and "near-naked design" is actually a design suitable for an action figure that can be played with for a long time. And when you add in the "movable tattered cape," it's definitely a specification that everyone will love! So I would be very happy if it reaches not only "My Hero Academia" fans, but all action figure fans. Thank you!
