With the release of "DX CHOGOKIN YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie (30th Anniversary Color)" in October, we asked Kawamori about his thoughts on the 30th anniversary of MACROSS.
--YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie (30th Anniversary Color), what do you have planned in the circumstances?
Kawamori: As an item commemorating the 30th anniversary, I wondered if I could put out a color variation of YF-29. I considered several patterns of coloring, but the image of the old Focker machine emerged in it.
- Please tell me why this color ring was chosen.
Color ring of Kawamori YF-29 Alto machine, was what was devised so that it can be recognized as aircraft immediately Alto even during the main part. While taking advantage of the alto of red black and white color, on the other hand adjusting the area of the red so as not to Brera machine and batting in to .... Once you say, it is the color ring for show in the video. Conversely, this time of the 30th anniversary of color is what was conscious of that show as a toy.
- If a toy, or you'll be referred to as a color ring that can not be achieved?
Kawamori That's right. The black aircraft is fine if it is limited to the atmosphere, but it is difficult to see in space combat and it is difficult to become a picture. However, when this is real, black looks really cool. This time coloring is for real DX CHOGOKIN, so it is now a direction to actively use black.
- Please tell us a commitment of color ring.
Kawamori Initially, the models I was also proposal arises in the black all, because the black impression is too strong, has been painted in black and white at the top and bottom of the nose. Also it is natural to also black look the part configuration and the head of the time fighter, but not dull the impression at the time of Battroid. Well dare By whitening head, I thought I had better accent.
- It is different in detail and painted of Alto.
It is also the point of the Kawamori engine pod was in the black. By nose and two engine pods are black, it looks like a three arrows. I think you been able to emphasize a three-cylinder format. I also engine pod at first I was black, that were asked to change to gunmetal, I think that was a good balance.
- The color of the canopy, I understand that you were particular about to end.
Kawamori At first, the color of the canopy and sensor was green, and it looked good in terms of color compatibility. However, when I was conscious of the canopy of the actual machine, I thought it would be a little different. The canopy of modern fighter aircraft has various coatings and looks like gold or purple, which is close to complementary color. The variable fighter of "MACROSS" is an anime sean fighter, but I want to keep the image of the actual machine somewhere. So, last but not least, this time the aircraft color contains yellow, so I asked him to change the canopy to purple in order to make a difference.
- Does this aircraft, was the image that everyone is riding?
Kawamori It is a difficult problem (laughs). Do Alto to come back, or ...... or Ozma to ride. Or it does not may be new pilot have emerged.
――Please tell us the impression you touched on the DX CHOGOKIN YF-29 again.
Kawamori: It's fun to touch. The clicks of the wings and movable parts are satisfying, and there are many ways to play with it. I think it's amazing how many ver. A.N.I.M.E. they were able to include. I hope that those who haven't tried it yet will get to experience the YF-29 in its 30th anniversary color scheme.
The coverage site, which is the origin of the variable Valkyrie toy "VF-1" was also arranged.
In issued October 24, 2012 "Figure King", will be published the long version of the interview!
