―― In the first place, the original author, Mr. Naoko Takeuchi, did you come up with the idea of a new sailor warrior called Uranus & Neptune?

As you know, Uranus & Neptune Combi appeared from the "Death Busters Edition" of the third chapter of the series. But in the first chapter, "The Black Moon", the teacher had already introduced a new warrior named Sailor Pluto who had Pluto as a guardian, entwined with a little bit of Chibis.
This is my imagination, but maybe in the sense of the teacher, you have already imagined a new warrior with a motif of Uranus, Neptune, or Saturn. I did not talk in concrete terms, but I remember that I talked about these ideas at the end of the series.

--- What about adding characters in the light of real objects?

The teacher was in high school astronomy department, so the constellations and celestial bodies were as detailed as minerals. Because it is a teacher, I think that it was surely used to the character making well in detail about the characteristics of both planets.

――Even so, the impact of Sailor Uranus = SAILOR URANUS was enormous.

I agree. In fact, I think the fan base has changed a lot since Uranus & Neptune came out. In the first place, the fans of the anime version of "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon" were mainly small girls, but there were a certain number of adult fans. Most of them were male fans, but with the advent of Uranus & Neptune, the number of female fans clearly increased. So to speak, I think it was supported by people who like "Yuri" today.

-Are those former fans still a strong support base for Uranus & Neptune?

Well, rather, the girls of the former main fans have become the new Uranus & Neptune supporters. I think I was gradually attracted as it grew.
The story deviates a bit, but the results of the latest popular character polls show that the number of votes for Black Lady and Quin Beryl has grown tremendously. At that time, I was not aware of it because it was small, but now it is often said that it was not a mere enemy, a mass of whales that could understand their feelings.
In that sense, Ulanus has changed the way of catching fans a lot. At that time, it was quite difficult to get the "Nakayoshi" reader as well as the general fan to understand the difference between physical and mental sexuality. However, I feel that now I understand that it is gender and LGBT. It is a great pleasure to see more people understanding their existence. This was something I had talked with the person in charge of developing BANDAI SPIRITS from the early stages, but anyway, I decided to cherish the pairing of figures this time. The first thing I wanted to do was to bring out the combination of Uranus and Neptune, which are two sides of the same coin.
Second, while pushing out the sense of pairing, we will try to fully enhance the attractiveness of the unity. As Uranus and Neptune each have their own passionate fans, I wanted to emphasize the degree of completeness as a single entity.

-What is the point that you struggled in particular?

What was surprisingly difficult is the sword Space Sword that Uranus has in hand. Space Sword is something that changes its size slightly from time to time. In particular, it was the warping of the blade, and how to hold and pose the sword that I revised many times. Compared to Neptune's mirror = Deep Aqua Mirror, which is relatively stable in size, it seems that there was a great deal of difficulty there.
In addition, it was the length of Uranus's leg that bothered her head. Neptune was decided quite quickly, but Uranus's leg posing was a lot of work with the people in charge. It's not masculine. If it's too feminine, it will make you feel uncomfortable. In order to express the exquisite salt plume, the person in charge and the archeologist really did their best.
However, all this is something that you have to actually try. Certainly there were twists and turns, but I think it was well worth the challenge.

-By the way, in terms of figures that are conscious of the eyes of female fans, it has become an unprecedented breakthrough.

I agree. In the past, there were a lot of figures that were overwhelmingly conscious of men's eyes when speaking of figures, but this time they are made to be conscious of women's eyes.
