GEAR 5 LUFFY is now available in both fixed and movable figures!

During his fierce battle with Kaidou, Luffy finally reaches his peak form: Gear 5! This heroic figure appears in both the FiguartsZERO and S.H.Figuarts series!

This time, we will introduce notable points of the figures from the planning staff involved in the production of both items! We will reveal the extraordinary commitment and behind-the-scenes stories behind the production of Gear 5 Luffy!

Director Y discusses their meticulousness in creating FiguartsZERO [EXTRA BATTLE] MONKEY.D.LUFFY -GEAR5 GIGANT-!

[Point 1] This high-volume figure exudes outstanding presence to live up to the GIGANT name!

FiguartsZERO [EXTRA BATTLE] MONKEY.D.LUFFY -GEAR5 GIGANT- is large—over 30 cm in total height—befitting the Gum-Gum Giant technique, and a lot of thought went into its size during the production stage. If it's too big, you won't be able to display it in your home, and on the other hand, it shouldn't be so small that it loses its presence as a giant. This item may have been the most difficult, in terms of sizing, of all the items so far in the FiguartsZERO series. We would like you to experience this striking, massive figure in person.

This FiguartsZERO EXTRA BATTLE SPECTACLE item, released in September 2023 is also a large-sized statue figure, but the biggest point of notice is that Luffy, himself, is so large. I think this product has amazing presence and is of very high quality, so I'd love for you to hold it yourself!

[Point 2] Reproducing the dynamic feeling characteristic of GEAR 5! The secret is…the legs!

One of the charms of this item is the sense of dynamism that makes it seem like it will start moving and jump forward at any moment. The secret lies in the figure's legs!

Looking at the sculpture from the side, you can see that the left and right feet are actually different sizes, and the right foot is indeed larger. This creates a dynamic perspective between the front and back, and a sense of energy in which it seems that Luffy might start moving at any moment.

The FiguartsZERO [EXTRA BATTLE] "One Piece" series focuses on three-dimensional depictions of heated battle scenes, so there are many figures with gruff and cool expressions, but this item is characterized by a lively smiling face.
I'd really like everyone to relive where Luffy proclaims, "I can do everything I wanted to do!"

[Point 3] Exquisite hues of white! The lack of color variation is why we're so particular about the coloring!
"Gear 5" Luffy is based on white, but is actually comprised up of various shades and hues of of slightly different whites in his hair and clothes, making this product a product that allows you to feel the depth of the color. Because there aren't that many colors used, I think you'll be able to appreciate the brush-style paint job and the balance of brightness of similar colors even more than usual.

On the other hand, the parts making up the effects and base are transparent colors making use of translucent material. The large size tends to make the entire unit look more weighty, but the use of translucent parts creates a much lighter impression.

Director A talks all about the details of S.H.Figuarts MONKEY.D.LUFFY -GEAR5-!

[Point 1] No extra joints are added to reproduce LUFFY's eccentric arms and legs!

"It's an action figure, but it doesn't have any joints!" I was most concerned about how to make this feature work. How to make it work was the most important point for us. In order to make the arms and legs movable without joints, we decided to use wire inserts, which had been introduced in other products, but then came the question of what material to use.... Finally, we were able to achieve this by adjusting the hardness of the PVC material, which has also been used in previous S.H.Figuarts items. We hope you will enjoy the freedom of movement, different from the moveability of typical joints!

[Point 2] Reproduces GEAR 5 LUFFY's free-spirited and powerful expressions!

The interchangeable facial expressions include a tense face, a surprised face, and other comical expressions essential to Luffy's Gear 5 mode. In particular, the eyeballs and tongue of the "surprised face" have been sculpted in a way that has never been seen before in a S.H.Figuarts figure!

Also included are interchangeable facial parts that are reminiscent of Luffy's transformation into his Gear 5 form, which we think fans will enjoy!

[Point 3] Beautiful details and rich movability that pursue the essence of Gear 5 Luffy

The flow of Luffy's the hair and hagoromo clouds were recreated in a way that would not break even in this three-dimensional form. I was particularly worried about how to make the hagoromo cloud maintain its structure while leaving it movable. By attaching the hagoromo to the main body and incorporating a movable structure, I think we were able to make Gear 5 Luffy easier to play with without compromising his appearance.

A variety of optional parts are also included, such as a lightning part and an elongated arm part (also movable by wire!). We would love for you to pick it up and try it out yourself!
