Interview Articles [Tamashii web shop] A powerful large item, Ryujin Garo, has arrived in the "Makai Kado" series!
2017-11-22 13: 00 Updated
Ryujin Garo is a power-up form shown by Saejima Koga = Golden Knight Garo in the movie "GARO ~RED REQUIEM~". "MAKAI-KADO RYUJIN GARO", which is a three-dimensional model of that miraculous figure, will finally be released! So this time, we asked Mr. Yukio Fujioka, the charismatic sculptor who handles all the item in the series, and Mr. Okamoto, the person in charge of the series in the Bandai Collectors Division, about the charm and highlights of "MAKAI-KADO RYUJIN GARO". saw.
―― First, I would like to ask you about the prototyping of the "Makai Kado" series. First, decide the directionality of the arrangement, draw a design, and when OK comes out, start molding?
Fujioka:No, I feel like I'm starting to make it (laughs). As Director Amamiya says, "If it's good, it's cool, you can do it as you like." I used to draw designs from Takaya Takeya, and I used to make it three-dimensional, but I'm mostly doing it alone from around "Fuunoku Knight Fuunkishi BADO" and "Raining Knight Baron".
-Recently, the figure designed by 3DCG has increased not only to the outer surface but also to the internal mechanism, but it seems that the "Makai Kado" series basically creates and delivers a shaped object.
Okamoto:Some digital work will be required, but basically we ask for the original form. Recently, the number of digital modeling has increased, and the number of "hand prototypes" that are created by hand is decreasing. Especially in the case of the "Makai Kado" series, the organic design and the shape of the arrangement are important, so I think the current method of making Mr. Fujioka is the best. I have been asking Mr. Fujioka for item related to "GARO" before the "Makai Kado" series, so I'll leave it to you with confidence.
- This time the Dragon Castle Garro was surprised at the volume that the total height of the main body was about 40 cm, while also arranging.
Fujioka:In the work of Dragon Castle Garro, I copied the one that printed out the appearance scene in the play to the full size of the item and made it as a standard of "It's about this size" so " The feeling of being "paralyzed". After that, we delivered the completed prototype, and after a while the supervisor touring master was sent, but it was not until I saw that "ah, this is deck!" (Laugh) .
- Is there anything particular about the gold color of Gallo?
Fujioka:I think the golden color of the Golden Knight is the color that symbolizes the work, so all garros are basically unified with the same color taste. Garros of Fanggi are also the same color taste of the gold color, and even if the design changes, the color does not change. Regarding that, I think that Amemiya General Director is surely the same feeling.
As for the dragon cider Gallo of this time, it is gold whole body when it is in the play, but I thought that it was boring if it was a monochrome in that volume, so I put some silver color etc. in some places and add an accent. Also, since the black of the joint part of the Gallo body is surprisingly prominent, I also dared to make the joints of the Ryujin parts dark, so that I can feel a sense of unity with the body of Gallo. I could do it if I tried to make the joint of the tail golden, but I will definitely spill it if it is a monochrome so long, so I dare to make it black. When supervisor Amemiya also supervised, I was told that "black is noticeable" at first, but I was convinced if we talked about the neighborhood.
▲ The silver part of the beard and the black part of the tail add accent to the whole.
- What part you particularly stuck with when arranging your design?
Fujioka:In a big place, I decided to make the head of the dragon team three-dimensional with chitin first. In the play, the head is in a relief shape, but in fact the director Amamiya 's design drawing is in the head of a dragon properly. Perhaps because the head of Tatsujin obstructed by the video, the face of Gallo became invisible, so you probably thought of looking good and made it a relief. But if it is a figure you can see it from various angles and the neck of Ryujin moves so that you can see the face of Garo when you decorate it in flight state.
Okamoto:The head of the neck and the parts of the back hair are made to move, and when the dragon team faces upwards, the rear hair parts make it possible to adjust the position.
Fujioka:Also, we stuck to the balance of the entire Ryujo. When checking with the image, the wings and tail are extending straight back from around the back of Gallo, there is no torso's own torso. But beyond making the head and neck of a dragon as a three-dimensional object, we have to arrange them in a well-balanced manner, and we care what to put together.
- From any angle you can see it as a dragon, and it is being dropped into a place that you do not recognize as a three-dimensional object.
Fujioka:I wanted to create an atmosphere that "a dragon is caught in the back of Garo".
- What are the architectural attractions?
Fujioka:The head of the dragon team, especially the complicated details of the horn, and the claws of the dragon team hanging on the shoulder of Garo. There is no nail in this part in the video, but if the nail is hanging over the shoulder, the feeling "gripped by Gallo" will come out more strongly. By the way, this claw also moves.
Although it is a tail, we are making it with a slight bent state, with parts attached to each part. Because it moves flexibly, I think that it is fun to decorate with expressions.
- I think the tail is a major highlight of the length.
Fujioka:It is longer in the picture, but it will be hard to play if it is longer, and it is about as long as it is decided to not spread too much when it is decorated with the tuna rolled. But Amemi Amamiya, first, said, "Is this a tail length too long?" (Laugh).
- Although fine shaping such as tail scales is one of the highlights, what is the hardship in shaping?
Fujioka:Actually I made it by hand, it is actually only one side of the biggest tail part. First make a part of the scales, connect the duplicated it and extend it. After mirror reversing it and combining it into a single tail part, I next scanned it and made it smaller by gradually reducing it ... ... I just connected them (laugh).
- Basically it is hand-crafting, 3D scanning etc. are adopted, too.
Fujioka:Compared with the days when it was all manual work, it became quite easy (laugh).
- In this case, as an option, in addition to the usual Fang Wolf sword, a dedicated stand and Ryuusa Fang Wolf sword are also included?
Fujioka:For Ryuyamagi wolf sword, I drew an accurate drawing before shaping. Because it is a bilaterally asymmetrical design, I could not get a good balance and I repainted it quite a number of times (laugh). It is very thin when checked with CG, and it will be like a bitter if it is as it is, so it has a thickness to make it look like a sword properly and makes it three-dimensional.
- Apart from the full set version of "Ryujin Garo", why did you prepare "Ryujin Gallo Parts Set" that does not come with the Gallo body?
Okamoto:The specifications of the Garo body are basically the same as the "Makai Kado Golden Knight Garo (Kanjima Kouki)" (2015 release), so it is prepared to be affordable to those who bought it.
Makai Kado" series, but what is your favorite item?
Fujioka:It's a renewed version of Koga Garo, which is set with "Ryujin Garo" this time. The first release, "Equip & Prop VOL.1 Garo (Steel Fang) & MADORIN ZARUBA" (released in January 2006), has been resold several times, but personally that is embarrassed. I was worried about the overall balance and details, and I wanted to remake it for a long time.
Renewal version released in 2015, "Makai Kado golden knight" Garo (Koshima Kokusan) ".
Since the pedestal supporting the main body is connected to the lower surface of the crown portion, the gallo body can be positively posed.
- Do you feel embarrassed when you later see what you made?
Fujioka:I agree. Especially for item that arrange designs, there is no correct answer in shape, so when I look at the ones I made before, I get a lot of thoughts that "I should have done this more". So when I was young, I couldn't look back at what I made, and only recently I can see it.
-So, are you not dissatisfied with the current "Makai Kado" series?
Fujioka:Well (laugh).
―― What is your concern in creating the "Makai Kado" series?
Fujioka:I think that it is the figure magazine or the net that the user sees the figure for the first time, but in that sense it would be better to display the image. In the case of "Makai Kado", there are also many sales at Tamashii web shop recently, but I try to be a silhouette, volume, and coloring that shines in images.
――What item would you like to challenge in the future with "Makai Kado"?
Fujioka:It seems that you want to make enemy-like characters, such as Aki of a movie "Fragrance
- Finally, please give me a message to all my fans.
Fujioka:So far, only TV and The Movie characters have been released in the "Makai Kado" series, but all the works with the name "GARO" are in the target of the series, and when we had a meeting I'm not sure what the future line-up will be, but I'd like to make it a series that people can stick with for a long time.
This dragon cadilla garo needs space, but I think that it is finished in a product that shines very well.
Okamoto:In addition to Ryujin Garo, we are also preparing for the release of "S.H.Figuarts (SHINKOCCHOU SEIHOU) Golden Knight Garo (Tsushima Steel Fang)", so we will continue to release "Fang Wolf (GARO)" Thank you for your item!
